Indianapolis Colts Should Acquire Tim Tebow

After 12 days of speculation, Peyton Manning has finally decided where to play football the rest of his career. Many people are now focused on what will happen to Tim Tebow. Teams have already shown interest inhis services and it is only a matter of time before he is moved.

Tim Tebow is not a conventional quarterback and he needs to find himself in the right system to succeed, much like he did while with the Denver Broncos. Even with Tebow’s success, the Broncos found themselves with a chance to obtain a future Hall of Fame quarterback. They feel that it would be best for Tebow to find a potential starting job so the Broncos will try to trade him.

Indianapolis parking revenues fall short of projections

The first year of Indianapolis’ 50-year parking meter lease brought doubled rates in some areas as a tradeoff for a wholesale upgrade of equipment and the convenience of paying by credit card or smartphone. Was it worth it?

New financial data provided by the city shows its share of revenue from the vendor in 2011 — nearly $1.4 million, or 30 percent — fell well short of the city’s own projection of $2.1 million.

Court to decide successor to Ind. elections chief

Indiana Supreme Court justices peppered attorneys with questions Wednesday during arguments to determine whether ousted Secretary of State Charlie White was ever a legal candidate for the office, and who gets to appoint his successor.

White, a Republican, was removed from office following his Feb. 4 conviction on voter fraud and other charges. Democrats contend the conviction proves White ineligible to run for office and that state law requires a winner whose candidacy is declared invalid be replaced with the second-place finisher — in this case, Democratic runner-up Vop Osili.

The Indianapolis Star and other community newspapers owned by Gannett will begin charging for online content by the end of the year. Gannett told investors Wednesday that it will limit access to its content for those who don’t subscribe and that it expects the move to paid content will generate an additional $100 million in earnings beginning in 2013.

The company plans to charge for all of its digital content. USA Today, Gannett’s nationally distributed newspaper, is not part of the pay-to-view plan.

Indiana measles outbreak illustrates disease risk

Indiana is battling its second measles outbreak in two years, even though its vaccination rate exceeds the national average. Health officials say the cases, traced to a Super Bowl event, illustrate just how vulnerable the public is to exposure from sources at home and abroad.

The 13 cases confirmed this month by state health officials have been confined to two counties, Boone and Hamilton. But all cases are linked to two infected people who visited the Super Bowl Village together on Feb. 3, prompting Indiana officials to reach out to health departments in New York and Massachusetts — home of the participating New England Patriots and New York Giants — for fear that the outbreak could spread across state lines.

Foes allege Sen. Lugar doesn’t really live in Ind.

U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar, once seemingly unbeatable in Indiana, has been scrambling to reintroduce himself to Hoosiers amid a barrage of attacks that he has lost touch — an argument his tea party challenger repeated Wednesday in front of the Indianapolis home the incumbent sold decades ago.

The Republican who has spent 35 years in Washington has been campaigning as though he was a rookie politico, trying to introduce himself to the masses and define his image before opponents do.

Air-cargo handler fined $1M over bomb screenings

A company that handles air cargo has agreed to pay a $1 million fine after investigators found that some of its workers failed to perform explosives screenings on all cargo destined for passenger planes at Indianapolis’ airport, federal prosecutors said Wednesday.

Prosecutors said OHL Solutions Inc., which formerly did business as ActivAir Inc., “engaged in a systemic pattern of record-keeping violations by failing to properly screen for explosives” in all air cargo, as was required under the New York-based firm’s security program.
